Equine Cranial Sacral Therapy

Simply put, Equine Cranial Sacral Therapy (ECST) is an energy therapy modality.

Unlike Equine Sports Massage Therapy, which methodically and directly addresses muscular tension, spasms and scar tissue, Equine Cranial Sacral Therapy is a very subtle technique that relies upon a light touch and focuses upon the central nervous system.

Like most equine complementary therapies (including sports massage and acupuncture), the basis of this work is taken from the human application of this modality.

Human Cranial Sacral Therapy (CST) comes from the work of John Upledger, DO and William G. Sutherland, DO. They observed that the cranium actually moved to the rhythm and flow of the cerebral spinal fluid. They defined the Cranial Sacral system to be a semi-closed hydraulic system contained within the dura mater, which envelops the brain and spinal cord.
